What is a makerspace?

In our new building next year we will have one of the first dedicated makerspaces in the district. Which means we gotta figure this out this year!  Over the remaining portion of this school year we are going to introduce different themes to our school culture. Making can be high tech or low tech - the point is to explore and have fun and try new things (even if it means failing every once in a while!).   Here are my ideas of things we can do this year...
  1. coding
  2. yarn art - knitting/crocheting
  3. recycled art - plarn, books etc
  4. computer take aparts... what can we build with old one computers
  5. simple machines
  6. makey makey
  7. arduino
  8. robots
  9. WHAT ARE YOUR IDEAS?

Today, let's set up a calendar of what we'll do over the next 8 months and when and start thinking about what we'll need to prepare for each session!
